Shasta Wildlife Rescue

  • Caring persons needed to feed baby birds from mid-April to the end of August

Training Required

  • Volunteers are provided with orientation at Anderson River Park
  • New volunteers must complete a training class usually held in April (for specific dates, please check their website)
  • Must be age 13 or older
  • Be able to commit to a four-hour shift each week
  • Must be a member or be willing to become one


Shasta Women's Refuge

  • Training course meets twice weekly for five weeks. Ongoing training provided.


  • Transportation to downtown Redding in 30 minutes or less

Whiskeytown Environmental School Camp

Volunteer Opportunity
  • Be a cabin counselor to up to eight students (5th and 6th)
  • Be a role model to younger students
  • Participate in weekly activities and share a cabin with students
  • Gain skills in leadership and group/time management


  • Will receive training on positive role modeling and conflict resolution


  • Be accpeting to the students
  • Leadership abilities and maturity
  • Ability to take time off from school
  • Must be at least sixteen
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.0 in each class
  • Have both parent and school approval
