COVID Testing Consent

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Starting January 4, 2022 New Tech will have the ability to offer modified quarantine anytime your student(s) is a close contact of a positive case here at school. To offer modified quarantine when your student(s) is a close contact of a positive case, your student(s) must remain symptom free and can stay in school if they are tested twice a week during their 10 day quarantine with an antigen test. These tests are typically not covered by insurance and can cost $75-$100 per test, but here at New Tech, we now have tests that can be run here, at school, free of charge.

The process would be, if your student is found to be a close contact to a positive case at school:

  1. We will screen the student to make sure they are symptom free and contact the parent to inform them of the situation.

  2. If the student is symptom free and we have consent to test or are fully vaccinated, they will stay in school and get tested twice weekly during their 10 day modified quarantine period.

  3. If the student is showing symptoms or we do not have consent to test here at school, they will be sent home to quarantine and are asked to get a SARS-CoV2 test (antigen or PCR) even if fully vaccinated or previously infected. Students can then return if:

    1. They have documentation from a health care provider confirming alternative diagnosis for symptoms; or

    2. They take a SARS-CoV2 test (antigen or PCR) on day five of symptoms.  If a negative result is received, students can return on day eight.

      1. If tested by an antigen test and the result is negative, repeat the test within 24 hours.

    3. They quarantine the entire 10 days and have had no symptoms or fever (with no fever-reducing medicine) for at least 24 hours.

We want your students here as much as possible and are asking for your help in getting a jump start on this. In order for your student to be tested, should the need arise, you need to be registered with Primary.Health and we need to have a consent form on file.

Both registration and the consent form can be done at the link provided for Primary.Health.
