Dairyville Orchard Festival

Due: Thursday, March 21, 2019

 The Dairyville Orchard Festival is interested in graduating high school seniors who graduated from Lassen View School as eighth graders. They well be awarding approximately $15,000 in scholarships. Be awarded as Upper Division Scholarship to juniors or seniors majoring in Agriculture who are enrolled studying at a college or university. If interested, please see Mrs. Simonsen in the Counseling Office.  
 
The Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship Program 
The Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship Program is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2018-2019 academic year. The program offers 14 categories of scholarships ranging from $1,000- $2,500 each with varying eligibility requirements. Categories include: agriculture, art, academic excellence, business, culinary/hospitality/ event management, education, international relations, trade school, viticulture and enology. Applicants may apply for one scholarship category of their choice per year and will be evaluated based on academics, community service, quality of essay and recommendation. The deadline to apply is March 2, 2018. Youth on Course Scholarship
Youth on Course is an organization whose purpose is to provide youth with access to life-changing opportunities through golf. Approximately 25 scholarships will be awarded, ranging from $4,000 to $20,000 to be distributed over four years. To be considered you must be a high school senior, enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited high school with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Lake California Garden Club Scholarship

Due: March 23, 2019

The Lake California Club is seeking applicants for a $500 scholarship. High school seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in horticulture, forestry, or related fields are welcome to apply. Interviews of the finalists will be conducted mid-April 2019, and applicants will be notified of their status. If you are interested in applying to this scholarship come see Mrs. Simonsen in the Counseling Office.  
 

Shasta Head Start Scholarship

Due: April 12, 2019

The Shasta Head Start organization will be offering a one-time only scholarship to a graduating senior this year. It is a $1000 scholarship that will be awarded to a candidate who is an alumnus of a Head Start Program, as well as provide documentation of the year and location they attended as a preschool child. You must hold a 3.0 GPA (provide unofficial transcripts) and have participated in community service activities (provide agency letter.) You must also submit a 2 page essay showing you have an interest in the welfare of children and families in our community, prove that you have been accepted to a community college, state college, university or vocational school for Fall 2019 including your intended field of study, and provide a current photo. Navy ROTC Scholarship

Attention Juniors: Are you college bound and interested in a career with the military? The Navy ROTC scholarship is worth $180,000. You are able to choose your major, the school you attend, and there is no obligation if you are chosen for the scholarship. Italian Catholic Federation
Due: March 15, 2019
The Italian Catholic Federation is a National Roman Catholic Faternal Organization composed of persons of Italian ancestry (including their non-Italian spouses) who are of the Roman Catholic Faith. One of the many programs of the Federation is to offer college scholasrhips to further the eeducation of students who achieve at least a 3.2 GPA and meet all of the requirements in either #1 or #2. 1) Are Roman Catholic and of Italian Descent and live with within the Roman Catholic Dioceses of California. 2) if either Roman Catholic parent, guardian or grandparent is a member of the Italian Catholic Federation, the student must be Roman Catholic but need not be of Italian Descent or live where Branches of the Federation are established -- mebership of a Roman Catholic parent, guardian or grandparent is mandatory for #2. Cien Amigos Institute for Mexicans Abroad Scholarship 
Due: March 15, 2019 
Cien Amigos, the Mexican Cultural Center of Northern California, and the Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento have partnered to offer the Cien Amigos Institute for Mexicans Abroad Scholarship as a way of promoting access to higher education for Latino students. To be eligible, students must reside within one of the following Mexican Consulate service areas, which include the counties of both Tehema and Shasta. Lassen Retriever Club Scholarship

Lassen Retriever Club has a scholarship awarded to senior students once a year in the spring. It is dedicated to a former member that died unexpectedly. REU Powering Redding's Future Scholarship and Grant Fund
Due: March 13, 2019 
Redding Electric Utility (REU) is proud to offer students in the Redding community the “Powering Redding’s Future” College Scholarship and Community College/Technical School Grant Program. The purpose of REU’s Program is to identify and support local students dreaming and planning to attend a college/university or technical school. The primary goals of REU’s Powering Redding’s Future program is to encourage Redding’s youth to consider a college/university or technical school education that may lead to career opportunities in the electric utility industry, preferably with REU. This program will award up to $50,000 in college scholarships and technical school grants for local students each year. Flavorful futures is looking for fun and unique candidates for their Flavorful Futures Scholarship. Sparking Ice is awarding FIVE $5,000 scholarships to eligible high school seniors who are planning their bright and colorful futures. Dirk Derrick Car & Truck Accident Injury Scholarship

To be eligible students need to be attending college or beginning college "soon". Students applying must submit an essay where you explain, present, inspire, or otherwise convince us as to why you deserve to win this scholarship.There are no conditions or requirements for this essay. Nor-Cal Veterans Historical Association

The Nor-Cal Veternas Historical Assoication honors those who enlist prior to graduation. As veterans, they wish to support students that have made the choice to serve their country and take the major life step into the military branch of their choice. To show appreciation to students who choose to enlist, the organization will choose two students from West Valley High School and award them each a sign-up bonus of $500 upon graduation. Sierra Pacific Foundation Scholarship 
Due: February 22, 2019 
The Sierra Pacific Foundation Scholarship is available to any dependent child of a full time, Sierra Pacific Industries employee. Applicants must complete an application, personal statement, 2 letters of recommendation, official high school transcript, official college transcripts, 2 passport photos, and a photo release form. This award requires students to be attending or planning to attend an accredited college, university, or trade school. Viki Cubbage Memorial "Dream" Award

Award: $250.00 
This 'dream' award will recognize a young woman between the ages of 14 and 18 who volunteers in her community or school.  The award will include a $250.00 award to the young woman with a matching financial award to the charity or school where she volunteers. Tri Counties Bank Scholarship Program

Awards are avialbe to talented high schools eniors who demonstrate a keen interest in pubkic service, community engagement, and business entrepreneuship -- especially among our economically-disadvantaged youth. In partnership with the Shasta Regional Community Foundation, Tri Counties Bank competitvely awards scholarships of up to $1,500 each to students attending a 4-year college and up to $1,000 for those attending community college.  
 
eQuality Scholarship Collaborative
Due: January 31, 2019 
The eQuality Scholarship Collaborative awards scholarships to honor and encourage California students for their service to the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender community. Students must graduate from high school and be enrolled or accepted in an accredited program.  Applications must be completed by January 31, 2019. CIF Spirit of Sport Award 
Due: Rolling 
This award recognizes one male and one female state-wide winner during each season of sport. Student-athletes are selected based on exemplary sportsmanship, school/community service and leadership. Each winner receives a patch, award, a $1,000 scholarship and will be recognized at the year-end CIF Federated Council dinner in April. Additionally, 60 Section winners (one male and one female from each of the 10 CIF Sections, in each season of sport) will receive a $500 scholarship. Nor-Cal Retired Coaches Association Coaches Scholarship 
Due:  March 9, 2019
In order to qualify students must be graduating for a high school in Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama or Trinity County in 2018-19. Student must have participated in at least two seasons of Varsity-level, CIF sport(s) while in high school (traveling teams not connected to high school do not qualify). The two seasons do not have to be in the same sport. The minimum GPA to qualify is a 2.75. Students must demonstrate financial need, however there is no specific need cut-off. You must plan to attend an accredited college or technical institution in 2019-20 or will be taking a gap year. Important to note that you do not need to participate in athletics in college. OppU Achievers Scholarship

Students who are interested in the OppU Achievers Scholarship need to be enrolled full time in high school or at least part time in college, graduate, professional, or trade school. To apply for the OppU Achievers Scholarship, submit a short essay responding to the prompted question. Scholarship decisions are based solely on an applicant’s essay response.Winners for the OppU Achievers Scholarship are selected four times a year, with submission deadlines on September 30, December 31, March 31, and June 30. Sons of Italy Western Foundation Scholarships

Due: March 1, 2019 

The Grand Lodge of California, Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, announces the availability of scholarships for graduating seniors in the Class of 2019. 

Scholarships are available in the following categories: Academic Awards, Italian Language Study Grants, Athletic Award for students pursuing a career in sports or a sports related field.

The George Grotefend Scholarship
Due: March 5, 2019
The George Grotefend Scholarship is available to current high school seniors who are on schedule to graduate, have attended all four years of high school in a Shasta County high school, have a high school academic weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher, and whose expected family contribuction (EFC) is less than $8,000. Applications are accepted November 1, 2018 through March 5, 2019. If you meet the above requirements and are interested in applying for the Grotefend Scholarship, please email your request for an application to vsmith@shastacoe.org with your name and the name of the high school you are attending. 
 
Beverage Industry College Scholarship Program
Due: February 15, 2019 
Award ranging from $3,000 - $6,000 
The Christermon Foundation is continuing their longtime committment to supporting college bound students. To qualify, you must be a high school senior attending a 4 year university/college beginning Fall, 2019 as well as have a parent or grandparent who is employed with a company who holds a valid California beverage alcohol license. This list includes restaurants, retail, and wholesale grocery establishments, convenience stores, drug stores, airlines, wineries, breweries, etc. Students employment or employment by other fmaily members does not qualify. University of Dayton - Leadership in Service Scholarship

Are you Ohio bound? Are you wanting to attend the University of Dayton? Please see your counselor if you are interested in receiving the University of Dayton Leadership in Service Scholarship. The scholarship is available to first time freshman attending the University of Dayton only.  
 
2019 National Space Club and Foundation Keynote Scholar Applciation

Since 2013, The National Space Club and Foundation has offered the opportunity for a student to give the keynote address at the National Space Club and Foundation's annual Goddard Memorial Dinner, one of the space industry's most prestigious gatherings. Barbara Lotze Scholarship for Future Teachers

The AATP Executive Board offers scholarships for future high school physics teachers. These scholarships, supported by an endowment funded by Barbara Lotze, are available only to U.S. citizens attending U.S. schools. Students must be an undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited two year college, four-year college or a university; or a high school senior accepted for such enrollment. Student must also pursue or plan to pursue, a course of study leading toward a career in physics teaching in the high schools as well as show promise of success in their studies. Military Order of the Purple Heart Academic Scholarship

Scholarships varying in amount from $500.00 to $1000.00
Must be a United States citizen and a high school senior with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, be the direct descendant (child, step-child, adopted child, grandchild, or great grandchild) of a Veteran who served honorably in one of the military branches of the United States Armed Services (Army, Navy, Marine Corps., Air Force or Coast Guard) and proof of enrollment as a full-time student (12 or more semester credit hours, or 18 quarter credit hours) at a Community College, State College, University, or Trade School at the time the scholarship is awarded.  Applications can be found at http://www.purpleheartchapter2001.org/static/index.html under the upcoming tab.
