LEADERSHIP

This elective course is designed for students who wish to become involved in a position of leadership at school or in the community. Students will study and discover items listed below:

  • Qualities of leaders
  • Identify these qualities in themselves
  • Dynamics of committees
  • Necessity of self-evaulation
  • Importance of community service and involvement
  • Structure of successful clubs and organizations
Students will also plan and conduct West Valley's traditional student activities while striving to improve and add to them. It is imperative that all students elected to an ASB office enroll in the class. Other students may enroll only with instructor permission on a space available basis. This course may NOT be substituted for social studies credit.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT

All Student Body and Class Officers are elected annually.  The Student Counsel meets once per month during a school day.  In order to be a candidate for an office, a student must exhibit:

  • Good citizenship
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA 
  • Complete a petition with 50 student signatures
